The Southern Grampians Jobs & Skills Pathway, held in Hamilton on 27 May, offered a valuable opportunity to connect with young people and promote the many rewarding pathways within the aged care and community services sector.
Many conversations took place with students, teachers and community members, creating meaningful opportunities to share insights into caring roles and their impact.
Building on earlier engagement at the Warrnambool careers expo in March 2026, there was a noticeable increase in openness and interest, with many students recognising the importance of supporting others and the value of roles within aged care and community services.

For Carer Connect, events like these play an important role in building early awareness of career pathways into the sector. Conversations focused on how to get started, the types of roles available, and the opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives through meaningful work.
These interactions, while often brief, are an important step in challenging perceptions and sparking interest in a sector that continues to need a strong and compassionate workforce.
By connecting directly with young people and highlighting the positive impact of caring roles, we are helping to build a future workforce that is informed, engaged and motivated to support their community.
