Members of the Carer Connect Network came together yesterday morning to begin work on strengthening how we communicate and connect with carers across the South West, and each other.
The session focused on early discussions around a new communication framework, alongside initial planning for a refreshed external website. These pieces of work are closely linked and aim to support a more consistent, accessible experience for carers seeking information and support.
The workshop brought together a range of perspectives from across the network. Participants shared insights from their work with carers, identifying both what is working well and where there are opportunities to improve.
A key theme throughout the discussion was the importance of clarity—making it easier for carers to find relevant, up-to-date information without needing to navigate multiple systems or services.
As part of this work, the group began to explore the idea of a more centralised online presence. This would act as a single point of reference for carers in the South West, bringing together information about services, supports, and resources in a more coordinated way.
While still in the early stages, the intent is to develop something practical and user-focused, informed by the needs and experiences of carers themselves, as well as those working alongside them.
This session marked an initial step in what will be an ongoing process. Further input will be sought as ideas are refined, with a continued focus on ensuring the approach remains collaborative and grounded in real-world use.
Updates will be shared with the network and the carer community as this work progresses.
